Offered Programs
The Chinese Government Scholarship Program supports international students, teachers, and researchers who want to study in China. It offers funding for undergraduate, master’s, and PhD degrees. Some programs also include a one-year Chinese language course.
Here’s a breakdown of the program:
- Undergraduate students: 4-5 years for the degree, plus 1-2 years of Chinese language study.
- Master’s students: 2-3 years for the degree, plus 1-2 years of Chinese language study.
- PhD students: 3-4 years for the degree, plus 1-2 years of Chinese language study.
Undergraduate students must take the Chinese language course unless they already have an HSK Level 3 certificate (valid for 2 years). For master’s and PhD students, many programs are available in both Chinese and English.
HEC Chinese Scholarships 2025 Eligibility Criteria
- Pakistani or AJ&K nationals are eligible; dual nationality holders cannot apply.
- To be considered for the Chinese scholarships 2025, applicants must be in good health.
- Those with incomplete degrees by the application deadline are not eligible.
- Applicants must check the China Scholarship Council website for all requirements before applying for the scholarships.
- Master’s applicants should have a 16-year bachelor’s degree and be under 35 at the time of application.
- Applicants for the HEC Chinese scholarships must submit a valid HAT or USAT score (HAT for Master’s/PhD, USAT for Undergraduate).
- A minimum score of 50 out of 100 in HAT or USAT is required for the application to be considered for the scholarships in 2025.
- The HAT score is valid for 2 years, while the USAT score is valid for 1 year. Applicants must have obtained a valid HAT score (from Dec 9, 2022, or later) or USAT score (from Dec 9, 2023, or later) to qualify for the scholarships.

How to Apply for HEC Chinese Government Scholarships 2025
The following procedure should follow for applying scholarships:
- All information in the online application and attached documents must be complete, true, and correct.
- Applicants should apply online at HEC Scholarships Portal. After registering and filling in the profile, they must select “Learning Opportunities Abroad.”
- After submitting the application, applicants should print a copy and sign it.
- The HEC online application portal will close on Monday, 09th December 2024, at 04:00 PM Pakistan Standard Time.
- Before applying, applicants must update their HEC profile with the latest email, cell number, and other details.
- It is advised to apply early, as the portal will be very busy closer to the deadline.
- After successful submission on the HEC portal, applicants should retain a printed, signed copy of the application.
- Applications must also be submitted on the CSC web portal at Campus China Website or China Scholarship Council (CSC) Portal, selecting Program Type: A and Agency No. 5861.
- Applicants should download the completed application from the CSC portal, print it, and keep a signed copy.

- Submission on both the CSC and HEC portals is mandatory. If either form is missing, the authority will reject the application.
